" Our Gipsy is a 1968 short wheelbase model, it was first registered for private use on the roads in N.Z. on the13th June 1968. The original engine # was 22NA KA 5661. Since then it has had seven owners before I purchased it on the 14th September 1960.
Before I purchased it, the motor had been replaced with an Austin A99 motor. The diff heads had also been changed to a higher ratio. Apart from that it was in good original order. Since then I have replaced that motor with Nissan 2.8 litre Diesel motor. I have also refitted the original diff heads. We now proudly call our Gypsy " The Nipsy ". We use the Nipsy as a recreation vehicle, to go fishing, hunting and camping in the mountains of the South Island of N.Z.  The Nissan motor has made her far more economical, as diesel is cheaper than petrol, and we are getting about 25 M.P.G It also has a little more power, which is an advantage when we tow a caravan. The first photo was taken in the Dobson Valley near the Station Hut. The second, was taken while waiting on the billy to boil to have a cup of tea. The third was in the Hunter Hills, in South Canterbury, New Zealand."

1964 Gipsy G4M10
SERIAL# 13553
STATUS: Running condition, off-road only.
LOCATION: St. Joseph Island, Ontario, Canada.
OWNER: Christian Moes

Originally purchased by Ted Oddy as a service vehicle for his Austin dealership in Peterborough, Ontario, our Gipsy was purchased by my dad
as a birthday present (!) for my mom on May 11, 1966. The Gipsy was used as a daily commuter vehicle in addition to snowplowing and market garden
duties. And of course, it was a proud day when we pulled the school bus out of a snowbank! The first photo, taken in 1968, shows the snowplow at
work in Peterborough. The second photo, taken later the same year at Long Lake (near Apsley, Ontario), shows my brother (6) and me (14) on
one of those rare days we convinced my dad to take the top off. Note "contemporary" vehicles in background!
In the early eighties, after being "retired" for a few years, the Gipsy was moved to our farm on St. Joseph Island (near Sault Ste. Marie,
Ontario). It was in poor condition, but still functional for plowing snow, collecting firewood, and hauling other, less savory, barnyard
substances. By the mid nineties, the body had deteriorated so badly (see photo 3), it was removed in two pieces, leaving the firewall in place.
Rust damaged areas on the frame were repaired (body mounts, rear spring mounts, front bumper mounts) and a new seat box, floor panels, and front
inner fenders were fabricated from scratch. Upper front fenders were built from scratch and the outer front fenders were restored with new
flanges and about 50% new sheet metal. The box was reinstalled "as-is" (future project). The other photos show the Gipsy in its present condition. To make it
"street legal" would require new electrics and brakes. Otherwise it runs great, and still hauls firewood and plows snow every season (that's a short chord of maple in the box).
